Weekend Recap

4th grade boys

Ipswich split a pair of nail-biters this weekend, falling to Newburyport 30-29 on Saturday and beating Amesbury 29-27 on Sunday. Against Newburyport, Ipswich trailed 26-13 but scored 16 of the next 20 to cut the deficit to 1. The Tigers could not get off a shot at the buzzer, but were led by Justin Brown’s 11 points, 8 from Rex Satter and a career-high 6 from Joe Wertz. On Sunday, Ipswich got early buckets from Zach Evitts, Liam Roberts and Luke Niederhelman to take a six-point lead. The Tigers held on thanks to Brown, who hit several clutch free throws. He finished with 14, while Satter added 6.

The fifth grade girls extended their winning streak to bring them to 10-1 on the season after wins against Masco (30-5) and Manchester Essex (32-12). Syesha Walker had her first back to back scoring games while Sophia Marshall controlled the boards in both matches. Lyla Greenleaf and Jade Wilcox continue to provide shutdown defense and knack for steals. Point guard Bella Gonzalez delivered 8 points in both games while she and fellow guard Allie Wile showed their prowess at the give and go. Lucy Donahue continued her scoring flair with a total of 22 points over the weekend.
